Quality Statistics: Using and Communicating Health Care Quality Data

July 7 & 14, 2010

1:00 - 3:00 p.m. each day, EST

The course will provide the foundation for improved communication regarding hospital quality and patient safety to hospital frontline staff, executive teams, boards of directors, and ultimately, the public.

Quality Statistics: Using and Communicating Health Care Quality Data is a course in statistical analysis techniques, including risk adjustment, designed to help hospital quality management professionals evaluate internal quality data and fully understand external public reports.

What you will learn

At the conclusion of Days 1 and 2, participants will be able to:

  • identify appropriate statistical tools to assist in continuous quality improvement and outcome management;
  • interpret control and comparison charts;
  • understand the implications of risk adjustment;
  • critically evaluate public reports;
  • such examples include methodologies used for mortality measures, AHRQ measures, and patient experience of care; and
  • access and use publicly available data sources strategically.

Registration Deadline is 07/05/2010. Cancellations less a 25% cancellation fee will be accepted until 06/25/2010. Cancellations after that time are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions are always encouraged even at the last minute.
